A Proper English Village Pub
the hook and Glove
At the Hook and Glove we serve four changing draught beers from local breweries, have a very extensive and reasonable wine selection and a huge selection of unusual bottled ales.
A local fishmonger delivers a variety of fish and shell-food daily. There is a daily steak board, and locally smoked pork, trout and duck are usually on the daily changing menu board and Sunday roasts.
Everything is freshly cooked so the menu is continually changing.
Children are welcome and we can provide individually sized children’s portions or their favourites.
There is a large car park, two petanque pitches which can be booked free of charge for private parties, space for tying up horses, (we have our own resident Shetland driving pony who loves being visited by his equine friends), a beautiful safe fully fenced garden with open views at the back and a “watch the world go by” front garden. Dogs are made welcome in the front bar and back garden.
All in all this really was what a traditional English Sunday roast should be and what a fantastic setting, a real country pub set in a real country village but within easy reach of Salisbury.
Superb lunch, great service and lovely location, I would recommend visiting this pub if you live in Salisbury or visit the area. We go there most weekends with the kids.
I’ve been to this pub on several occasions and am never dissapointed. The food is always presented beautifully, huge portions and the menu is regularily changed.
